What can my plan's number call and text?

Each number line has its own rules, set by the mobile network. A call the line doesn't allow fails however your phone is set up, so check your line below.

On every line

  • Dial every number in full: +, the country code, then the number, even for a local call. Leave out a leading 0 after the country code.
  • Calls and texts use the minutes and texts in your plan.
  • A text holds 160 characters, or 70 if it contains emoji or non-Latin characters. A longer text is sent in two or more parts, and each part may count as a text.
  • Apps that call and message over data, such as WhatsApp, work on any plan where those apps are available.

Line by line

Global+

  • A US number (+1) that works in the countries listed on the plan.
  • It calls and texts numbers in other countries, not only local or US numbers. Those calls use your plan's normal minutes: there is no separate allowance for international calls.
  • It sends texts to, and receives them from, ordinary mobile numbers abroad (for example in Ghana and mainland China).
  • US toll-free numbers should work while you're in the US, though some may be restricted. Toll-free, bank, airline and other restricted numbers may not work while you're roaming. Australian 1300 and 1800 numbers, short codes and premium-rate numbers can't be called: use the service's ordinary number instead.
  • No call forwarding and no voicemail.
  • In some countries, outgoing calls may not be available. If calls won't connect, use an app over data and tell us.
  • In Turkey, use for more than 91 days is restricted by local rules.

USA+

  • A US number (+1) for the United States, including Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Coverage in Alaska is limited.
  • Calls you receive use your minutes, as well as calls you make.
  • It can't call numbers outside the US.

UK+

  • A UK number (+44) for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man aren't covered.
  • Local calls only: it can't call numbers in other countries.

Israel+

  • An Israeli number (+972) for use in Israel.
  • Local calls only.
  • Activate it within 90 days of buying. The plan's days start when the eSIM first connects to a network.

Netherlands+

  • A Dutch number (+31) for use in the Netherlands.
  • It can't call or text numbers in other countries. Calls from other countries can still reach it.

If a call or text still fails, see My calls or texts aren't working. What can I try? or contact support.
