Moving your eSIM to a new phone

First, don't delete the eSIM from your old phone. A deleted eSIM may not be possible to install again, and a replacement isn't guaranteed. Keep it until the new phone has working data.

Can my eSIM move?

It depends on the eSIM: some can be prepared for a new phone, others only work on the phone they were first installed on.

Sign in to your account and open the order. Next to each eSIM you'll see one of these:

  • Reinstall on new device: this eSIM can move. Follow the steps below.
  • A note that it can't be moved to another phone: to use a different phone you'd need a new eSIM, or you can contact support about your options.
  • Reinstall unavailable: the eSIM has expired, run out of data or been cancelled.

Reinstall on new device prepares the eSIM so its QR code works on another phone; once it's installed there, it stops working on the old one. It doesn't add data or change your plan's dates, and works only a limited number of times a day.

Your new phone may offer to transfer eSIMs from the old one during setup. That usually doesn't work for travel eSIMs, so don't rely on it.

Installing it on the new phone

When your eSIM is ready to move, check that the new phone supports eSIM, is unlocked and is on Wi-Fi. Then show the eSIM's QR code on another screen.

Lost, stolen or broken phone?

Contact support. What's possible depends on the eSIM and a replacement isn't guaranteed, but we'll tell you your options.
